Sian Harries

Sian Harries is my teacher. She is an accomplished sportsperson excelling at netball, athletics and basketball. However her true gift is her ability to inspire and encourage others and enable them to achieve far more than they ever thought that they were capable of. Sian works in a small state school in rural mid-Wales. We have less than 50 in the 6th form and there are few facilities; yet our schools has won the Welsh schools football competition, rugby competition our girls excel at netball and our students represent Wales at Athletics, Football, snooker and table tennis. Every year she organises sports tours for multiple year groups to Cardiff, Marbella and Devon. She personally supports charities organising a spinal research bike-athon and inspires us to get involved taking a group to Race for Life. She gives up her lunch times to teach PE GCSE to students that can't take it as an option. Oh and she has overcome a broken back to do all this! Always encouraging, helping, supporting and unfailingly cheerful with infectious humour and a massive love for life she is our sporting hero and we would love to see her honoured.
