Shirley's nomination story

Shirley is an outstanding sportswoman and totally dedicated member of staff, and all whilst suffering from skin cancer. She has done over 25 road marathons, including 16 London marathons and 3 New York marathons but prefers off road and 'ultra' marathons, and has completed 30 hundred mile events. She is an outstanding member of the teaching staff; she is committed to delivering high standards in teaching but is also a fantastic personal tutor, who will often attract additional tutees over the year. She has helped them fundraise and train for the London Marathon. She has given students students cycling equipment to support them in their charitable aims - notably Lands End to John O'Groats. Shirley has also been nominated because she has continued to work whilst suffering from skin cancer. She has had 14 operations and has often taught whilst still being in bandages. She is an outstanding candidate.
