Shaun demonstrated outstanding Health Ahead and GE Volunteering traits. After 20 years no sporting activity, 16 months ago he trained for his first Triathlon. He completed his first Triathlon and continued to train weekly to improve his fitness. He competed in a further two events and a GE Relay event in 2010. With great dedication and daily training around GE work and family commitments, he quickly improved his performance. He also lost 2.5 Stones in weight and changed to a healthier lifestyle. He competed in a further ten Triathlons (from Sprint to Ironman distances) in 2011. In parallel he took coach education courses to become a certified BTF level 2 Triathlon coach. He coaches weekly at Wakefield Triathlon Club mentoring, promoting and encouraging young athletes to improve their techniques and performances. Next year he looks to further improve his performance and share that experience with his young athletes.
