Sharon Coleman worked as a legal secretary when she gave birth to her disabled son Oliver. She was treated differently because she had a disabled son. She fought a 6 year battle for equality for carers and won a landmark ruling in the European Court of Justice which offered new rights to 2.5 million people in Britain who combine paid work with the responsibilities of caring for a disabled person. Discrimination by Association or as it is known, The Coleman Case is now included in the equalities Act.
