Scott's nomination story

A student in Harrogate Scott was selected as an Adistar Young Ambassador for the 20010/11 academic year respected by all staff for his dedication and maturity not just in P.E. Scott, then selected to be a Gold Young Ambassador for the Harrogate SSP (from 18 Adistars). Underaking the Gold Ambassador role with determination, enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring young people recognise the importance of P.E & School Sport and can access activities in a familiar and fun setting. Starting out shy, uncomfortable speaking in public he has developed hugely and his personal journey is worthy of celebration. Using the power of the Games to enthuse pupils along with a programme of school visits. Scott has delivered Games themed assemblies across the whole school (on his own!) to over 1900 students. A lead mentor for the King James Leadership Academy identifying and engaging pupils to become young leaders and volunteers within school and community. He has supported the development of a Multisports Club for pupils with disabilities to ensure that they can access sport and have the opportunity to progress into formal competition. Scott started a school Olympic committee with the full support of his P.E Department. Using his personality and friendly nature to deliver assemblies and coaching to hundreds of primary school pupils often at the expense of his own sport. Many young people are now more active as a result of his influence. Scott is an amazing young person and has positively impacted on many young people's lives.
