I guess it may seem a little strange to nominate my own daughter but as she is involved in so much competitive sport and inspires both her family, friends and fellow competitors I felt compelled to. I am not nominating Sasha because she is the best and always wins far from it in fact. I am nominating Sasha because of her positive attitude towards training and competition and her true sense of fair play and the way her enthusiastic approach to sport and life effects everyone she meets. Sasha rises at 4.15am three times a week for swimming training before going to school, then at school she may well want to take part in school sports, she quite often volunteers to do events such as shot put or high jump which she knows she isn't very good at because others are not so keen to do these events, she in effect puts the team before herself on nearly every occasion she quite often runs in events that are not her best and I have never ever known her argue with a selection. When she has been picked to captain a team she leads by example whilst encouraging her team mates when things are not going so well. Sasha loves to help out with the junior swimmers at her swimming club during beginners galas and mini meets being in the water encouraging the little ones, presenting medals and recording times. Sasha has also been instrumental in encouraging her older sister Bethany to participate in Sport. Bethany has Cerebral Palsy. Bethany is now actively involved in competitive disability swimming
