Sarah set up a youth choir and non-profit community theatre group for young people in Suffolk in 2001 and elicited the support of professionals to work with her as volunteers, developing new musicals. She teaches the kids weekly. She received an award for 'Community Champion' from the Department for Education and Skills which gave her a grant to invest in taking the group on tour in 2005, and since then, it has toured with the teenagers annually. Then, she set about getting adults singing, establishing a free choir in 2008 for adults whose children/grandchildren came to her performing arts school. She also organises major musical events for children at the Regent Theatre in Ipswich (which have raised £15000 for Macmillan and our local hospice since April 2009), and events in her village in an effort to bring the community together. This is extra to her day job, voluntary and unpaid.
