Sara was born with a condition known as occular albinism, meaning not only does she have the white hair and pale skin associated with albinism but as with most albinos she has impaired vision, and is registered blind. This does not stop her from leading a normal life. She works full time as a paediatric physiotherapist. Her sporting interest is paratriathlon which she took up about 4 years ago. The swimming is done teathered to a guide, cycling in on a tandem and running is blindfold again with a guide. This year she became national champion in category 6 paratriathlon, and is representing GB in European championships. She belongs to the Albinism Fellowship and is great role model for its younger members and is always willing to talk about her condition to parents with young children either on a one to one basic or at larger gatherings. She is an inspiration to them as to what can be achieved with a visual impairment be it in sport or in everday life and is always in encouraging to others with similar condition. Sara is my daughter and I am very proud of what she has achieved and her willingness to share her life experiences with others.
