My sister Sandy has worked as a theatre nurse at the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford since 1996. She is a single mum and has done an amazing job of raising her 2 girls. Her youngest daughter Alice (Now 16) suffered from epilepsy as a young child, and has since been diagnosed with dyslexia and dyspraxia. Sandy has recently persuaded the LA to provide Alice with special needs assistance. 2 years ago, her eldest daughter Ellen became very ill with a mystery illness and spent over 3 months in hospital on a feeding tube and drip. Sandy stayed at her bedside in hospital with her for the entire time. When Ellen recovered, Sandy decided to raise money for Starlight Trust, after meeting so many brave children on the childrens wards. She raised over £3,500, holding a masked ball, raffles and going on an trek in Borneo. She has continued raising money for other charities, and has lost a stone on a sponsored slim, and this year persuaded me to do 'Walk the Walk' with her, which was fantastic! Also this year, she has completed the Welsh 3000s and lots of muddy events! She is now training for a triathlon and is an inspiration for the amount of hard work she puts in. She is always persuading others to get moving! I think she deserves a chance to shine because she hasn't always had it easy but has remained positive, and ploughed her energy into helping others at work, looking after her children and raising money to help others!
