Sam's nomination story

Sam is 23 he has lived 22 years in Dover. He is a lifeguard at the local swimming pool , He is a rescue SCUBA diver and published under water photographer, he is working towards his Duke of Edinburgh Gold award with only an expedition to go. He has been an assistant scout leader. He has been a member of a group speaking out on hate crime and access to justice for people with disability.....By the way Sam has Autism.... he enjoys a great reputation in the town for his friendlyness and his care and concern for others ..when Sam was younger and needed help with overcoming his disability local people were significant contributors to the fund raising effort . and have kept in touch with Sam with interest in his progress.....Sam is a sticker and perseveres at achieving his objectives despite the reservations of others and the barriers that stand in his way...His motto could be 'Never take no for an answer' ....Sam is inspirational through his example to others, I was walking through town with Sam when a young man called out ' Hi Sam ' Sam responded in a friendly way , the young mans companion said ' who's that' the youngster replied ' That is Sam he's a legend round here'...I think that Sam should carry the Torch through Dover, he is part of the pride of Dover and extolls the virtues of young people ..but also examplifys the power of perseverence....
