Sam's nomination story

I am nominating my younger brother as I think he is inspirational and has overcome difficulties to play a very active role in the local community through the Air Training Core. He is a Sargent at both Wareham and Swanage Air Training Core units and has just completed his bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. He is currently completing his silver award, where on his practice expedition he had to help carry a fellow walkers backpack as they were struggling. At 12 he won the Scouts award for Endeavour. He has was given the honour of being Mayor's Cadet in Wareham last year. He participates in helping with local events; car boots sales, traffic direction, street collection for Flag and Poppy day and even serving tea's at a street party for the 90th anniversary of the Royal British Legion. He marches in parades for Swanage and Wareham carnival, Remembrance day and Civic days. He was awarded a scholarship for glider pilot training and attained his Wings (flew a gilder solo) at RAF Upavon. He has attained a radio operators licence and teaches Rocket science to his fellow cadets. He is very motivational to his fellow cadets and encourages them to achieve their goals. He has recognised the importance of his own health and fitness levels, so he designed a diet and fitness programme for himself which he followed allowing him to achieve his fitness and weight goals.
