Samantha's nomination story

I would like to nominate my daughter. Her story begins when she was two years old and she had her first operation on her eyes this went well however as she got older she had to have another operation on her eyes this did not go well and she was for a short time left without sight as a result of this she became very much aware that loosing your sight can be a very frightening and disabling expierence this gave her the drive and ambition to help others, she began fund raising for the blind at age ten writting letters to many people including the Queen and Prince Charles who were very supportive she also wrote to HMS Cornwall, Harrods, news papers and many more she managed to set up a fund in her name and raised well over two thousand pounds on her own she was awarded the Princess Diana award when she was around fourteen for all her hard work. At the age of fifteen she then went to Uganda to offer her self as an Aid worker. She has never allowed her difficulties with her sight to hold her back she is now working full time for the Cornwall Wild life Trust and is hoping to return to Uganda next year with Richard Lander School to continue with Aid work and encourage young people to be involved. She truly is an inspiration and as her mother I am extreamly proud of her achievements.
