Sam (21) is an true inspiration to many because of her incredible generosity and selfless attitude. She started fundraising in 2006, to personally help build an orphanage in Western Kenya. Between 2006 and 2011 she raised thousands of pounds and also helped to renovate a rescue centre for street children in Embu, Central Kenya. Desperate to make more of a difference, in 2010 she applied to go on the TV game show Deal or No Deal, with the express intention of giving half of anything she won to build schools and rescue young children from poverty in central Kenya. After numerous interviews and auditions, she was chosen to go on the show and became one of the highest ever winners - £100,000 (June 2011). Straight away, she donated £50,000 to help transform communities in an area of Kenya called Solio. As soon as she finished the summer term in university, she went straight out to Kenya to help on the first project. Everyone who hears her story is flabbergasted that at the age of 20, she gave £50,000 of her own money away like that - people young and old have been inspired by her generosity and strength of character. Sam is a lifeguard and level 2 swimming teacher and has taught many people to swim, including nervous adults. She is currently doing a degree in Primary Education. Sam has also volunteered to be a London 2012 Gamesmaker. Carrying the Flame would be an incredible tribute to a young girl who has done so much to change so many lives and is still only 21!
