Ryan Nolan

Ryan is 12 years old and already realises the importance of community spirit. The community we live in has the highest crime rate of our part of the county and one of the most deprived in the country. There is a high population of immigrants and often conflict between the different cultures. Ryan recognises this and continually tries to find ways to help overcome the conflict. One of his ideas was to set up groups where youngsters from the different cultures could integrate and educate one another about their backgrounds, beliefs and traditions. Unfortunately, his ideas are met with negative, amused and sometimes hostile response BUT he still continues to try as he believes this is something worth fighting for.
