Ryan's nomination story

Ryan is a 13 year old lad with an amazing passion for football, he was scouted for newcastle united academy approx 2 years ago. Ryan had an extremely promising career in football ahead of him until falling ill a year ago, after numerous trips to the doctor Ryan was told 'its viral' give it time you'll feel better in a week, time passed and Ryan got no better after 3/4 weeks of feeling poorly Ryan was admitted in to hospital eventually being diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (sjs) is a potentially deadly skin disease that usually results from a drug reaction. ryan spent a month in hospital on oxygen, various intravenous drugs and medications. Not once did he complain as huges burn like blisters appeared on his skin , eyes and down his throat. As a result of SJS Ryan has never recovered fully and now suffers from obliterative bronchiolitis (OB) is a rare and potentially life-threatening form of non-reversible obstructive lung disease. Ryan has now had to leave Newcastle academy on medical grounds as he is functioning with a very reduced lung capcity, which in turn means Ryan is unable to play matches as he can no longer keep up with team mates or have the speed he once had. Ryan is goin through a very turbulent time emotionally as for a 13 yr old for whom football was once his life is now struggling to keep up with mates in the park. Ryan has to take meds daily. Ryan has had an enormous amount of emotional and physical stress to deal with. he has shown great courage.
