Carrying the Flame through
Carrying the Flame on
Ryan's nomination story

Ryan has just finished Year 13. He is an amazing lad. He is superbly fit and sport orientated. He has amazing stamina and a great sense of humour. Whilst completing sixth form he has been working as a Lifeguard at Axminster pool. He is a regular at the Duke of Edinburgh Awards across Dartmoor and on one occasion not only carried his own pack, but that of another student and supported the injured student to the next checkpoint. This is typical of Ryan. He would do anything to help anyone. He is polite and well loved by peers and adults alike. He is actively involved in Army Cadets and Scouts, having reached high positions in both, and travelled the world to take part in the Jamboree. He works very well with youngsters of all ages. My little boy (aged 6) loves him. You could not get a better role model. You would be honoured if your daughter brought this young man home. This guy has it all but not without giving total commitment to all he does and there is nothing conceited about him at all. Ryan plans to join the army, following his older brother. Loyalty to country, family and friends is paramount for Ryan. He takes on everything he does with great gusto. He would be so honoured to carry the flame, this would be the icing on the cake for him, bringing together his fitness, stamina, love of sport, integrity and service to his country.
