Russell Winfield

I would really like to nominate my husband russell winfield as a torch bearer as he has been involved in table tennis for the past 30 years and has given up alot of his time to coach children in the area and also run club sessions several times a week, he will also give up his days off at the weekends to go to tournaments with the children and be their coach. He has nominated colleagues from the club to be a torch bearer and never considers himself as being an upstanding member of the community. As well as doing table tennis in grantham he often travels to scarborough to coach the children there free of charge. He is a govenor at the local school and gives any time he has to help at the school which includes running an after school table tennis club on a monday evening 3.15pm to 5pm after sometimes working a 12 hour shift starting at 3am in the morning driving about 300 miles. He is very committed to his family as well as to table tennis, he was absolutely thrilled to get olympic tickets for the table tennis and is currently going through the interview stages for a gamesmaker volunteer, the olympics is all he talks about at the moment and It would really make his day to be involved with the torch bearing.
