Russell's nomination story

Russell is a formal pupil at the school and over the past 12 years he has become a role model for hundreds of pupils by being a person that always has time for people. Russell is both academically and emotionally intelligent which makes him a truly outstanding teacher. The pastoral support he has offered to pupils and families, listening, caring and supporting their well being is the reason he is loved by so many- not to mention himself!! Most importantly I feel Russell deserves to be recognised as a local hero for the recent campaign he has driven to save the life of Florio Kazazi. Florio Kazazi is a former pupil of Robert Clack School. He was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (an aggressive form of bone cancer) at the age of 16. That was 4 years ago and Russell has supported Florio ever since. Unfortunately late last year Florio's consultant gave him the dreadful news that his treatment has been unsuccessful. Upon hearing this news Russell took on the challenge to raise £50,000 to buy alternative therapies. Russell's passion for this cause fed through the school like wild fire and we all watched in amazement as he pulled together a community to raise the funds necessary. Thanks to Russell's drive Florio has been having the treatment and is currently doing well .I whole heartedly feel he deserves to be recognised as a local hero and feel that anyone who knows Russell Taylor would completely agree.
