Roy's nomination story

Roy has been teaching athletics for 30 years, specialising in high jump, he has trained young athletes from age 11-adults up to international standards as a volunteer. He created and delivered anti-bullying courses in schools, as well as introduction to sports leadership courses for junior school pupils. He has recently set-up the first ever Veterans Hockey Club in England. He has raised money for countless charities such as Help for Heroes, The homeless, Church and more. Roy also takes children on a WW2 project around Cleethorpes cemetery as a volunteer. From talking to people Roy knows and trained. They said he has been approachable and inspirational. When Roy is asked what he gets out of helping the community he replied, 'I just enjoy what i do if people, children, young people get something out of it then that is enough and satisfying for mel.'
