Ross's nomination story

My brother should carry the Olympic torch as I believe he is a fantastic representative of this country. He serves our country in the British Army and returned from a 7 month tour of duty earlier this year. He has been in our local paper twice this year as he has had to deal with situations that have tested him to the limits. He was only 19 when he went to Afghanistan and he was one of the first soldiers on scene when one of his good friends had a leg blown off when he stepped on a bomb and was involved in the treatment of this. Ross has also had to deal with the loss of two of his best friends this year who served with him. These boys were in a car crash close to where Ross is based. He was also a vital part this year of the Edinburgh Tattoo in which he helped behind the scenes. Ross is a fantastic infantry soldier and loves every minute of his service, although it is an extremely demanding job for a boy of his age.

One of Ross's dreams has actually been to become a long-distance runner and compete in the Olympics. He loves to run and is one of the fastest in his company. At 6'5' he towers over everyone and so would be a fantastic torch bearer. As a family, we have also had to deal with many stresses recently and this would be such a fantastic reward for him.
