Ross Kearney

Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club nominate Ross as an inspiring young sportsman who has gained much from sailing and has repaid many times over by dedicating time and enthusiasm to the next generation of young people. Ross was a shy young boy with a stammer who, through sailing learned about responsibility and teamwork. He developed his skills to become an Irish, British, European and double World champion. He is the only person to win the Mirror World Championship twice. He did this with two different young crews. His first crew learnt so much with Ross that he has also gone on to be a National Champion. He coaches both at our Club and for the Irish and English teams. Watching Ross develop, not just into a great sailor but a confident young man representing us at events around the world has been an inspiration to all our members young and old.
