Rosie's nomination story

Rosie is a truly inspirational, happy and mature 13 year old in many areas. She has a love of sport and has persuaded friends and family to participate in a range of sporting events. She has represented Bexley in the London Youth Games in Hockey for the past 3 years and this year is team captain. She has represented Kent and her home club in friendly golf matches; she plays rounders, netball, football and hockey for the school and recently won a gold medal in discus throwing. Outside of sport Rosie was headgirl in 2008/9 and was chosen because of her ability to make everyone feel included and recognised everyone had special strengths and different traits. She has been an active member of eco councils and helped design a local playground for the community. Whilst in this role she had the opportunity of take her ideas to the House of Commons on 2 occasions. Second best is not an option for Rosie; she continuously works to her best ability; is always questioning her performance and looking at ways to improve it. She has won citizenship and Mark Petchy awards. A visit to the Olympic site in April 2011 has encouraged Rosie to aspire to her career goal of becoming a female engineer. She found the information on the background to the designs of the stadiums so interesting she now has her heart set on following this as a career path. Rosie is a great leader, peer mentor and ambassador for the community; she strives to helping everyone reach their potential.i won a Jack Petchy award, not mark petchy. everything else is correct.
