The Cyrenians Good Food Charity in Edinburgh collects food from wholesalers and retailers which is at sell by date or no longer required and distributes it to various shelters and homes throughout the city and surrounding areas. Rona has arranged for a colleague from Corporate Banking in Edinburgh to support the charity every Friday with the colleague involved in the preperation and delivery of the produce. Ronas manages the overall process within LBG and has enabled over the past 18 months for a volunteer to be with the charity every Friday
Rona has engaged with different parts of the Bank - including Corproate Banking, Credit Risk, Wholesale Markets and BSU to ensure we have a range of colleagues volunteering every Friday. She ensures the colleagues know where they are going and the timings involved. She has also assisted in introducing the Cyrnenians to the Bank of Scotland foundatin where they were granted an award in June 2011. Her dedication and commitment to the asssitance of this cause is first class and she has reguarly volunteered at times where harder to get others - including New Years Eve etc.
Providing volunteers to the cyrenians gives them additional capacity on one of their busiest days of the week. the support from the BoS Foundation will enable the cyrenians to develop their own work through upgrading their storage or purchasing a new delivery fan. Ronas work has inspired many people across LBG to support the charity and we have had over 30 different volunteers attending in the last 18 months. Her tenacity and dedication are key in keeping the volunteer levels up. In the long term the support from the BoS Foundation will fuirther assist the Cyrenians and the volunteer program will continue to provide much needed man power the charities distribution requirements
