Roly's nomination story

Roly is a native of Ashington Northumberland and has been working for Rio Tinto Alcan at the Lynemouth Power station in the North of England as an electrical craftsman for 35 years.

Roly is well known by his colleagues, family and friends for his passion for running but more specifically, for his dedication to great causes. Over the past 27 years, he's combined his love of running marathons and half-marathons, with raising over £130 000 for local charities.

Roly is a great role model and an inspiration for many. He's a living example that dedication and perseverance can lead to great results. He's much respected in his community for the support and benefits he brings to it and for the good example he sets for young people.
