Robina Sheikh

Pulling Together, an Asian women`s group based in Old Trafford, would like to nominate Robina Sheikh. Robina has been encouraging Asian women to achieve their potential for over 20 years through arts and cultural activities. She runs a voluntary group every Friday evening, which enables us to take part in activities from rock-climbing to football, helping us to improve our confidence and ability in sports. Her drive has encouraged us to raise money for charity by taking part in fun runs. She has also been instrumental in arranging women-only swimming at our local pool, allowing us to feel more at ease when swimming. We have made life-long friends amongst the group members and always look forward to the sessions. She has gone above and beyond her role, fundraising for projects that have helped us throughout our school years into early adulthood. She is an ambassador for women in Trafford by giving us the strength and opportunity to achieve our goals and aspirations. So many members of the community have greatly benefitted from her input and support over the years. This was highlighted recently when we received the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services Award. She is proud of the Olympics and Paralympics coming to London and acted as a selection event volunteer. By nominating Robina, we would like to show her how much we appreciate all her hard work for our local area. She is a truly inspirational woman and we hope that she is chosen for this prestigious award.
