Now in remission following testicular cancer in 2007, 38 year old Rob Waite from Herne Bay in Kent is living life to the full, raising money for cancer charity Orchid by competing in duathlons and 10k races, he's also organising fundraisers like quizzes and raffles. His crowning glory is completing the 1000 mile John O'Groates to Lands End cycle across Britain. Not only is he putting his body to the test, Rob is reaching out to young people too. So far 1500 sixth form students in his local area have heard his story, learnt about testicular cancer and why a simple monthly inspection could save their lives and the lives of the people they love. Rob's the first to say being diagnosed with cancer is a shock, but he's not sitting back, he's been proactive by helping others. Rob puts his positive, inspirational outlook down to his hero Lance Armstrong's attitude and his battle with the same cancer, however when you meet Rob you'll see he has positivity in abundance. He's an ideal ambassador and torch bearer for 2012, Rob reflects the spirit of what the games are all about.
