Bob's nomination story

(Royal Dutch Shell Plc) Bob inspires us all to make the best of what we have and is a terrific role model for deaf blind people who believe their active lives are over. Bob was born deaf with a degenerative eye condition (<5% vision remaining) yet continues to participate in the sports he loves, playing tennis, running, cycling (on a tandem and swimming. Bob has run football and swimming training for local children, worked with local venues to make them more accessible for the deaf, persuading local deaf people to start going to the theatre and he helped in setting up and now chairing the deafblind Scotland charity. Bob has raised over £60,000 for charity through running marathons and long distance tandem ride challenges with his wife Louise, shows no sign of slowing down or giving up and is thrilled that more and more deafblind adults are now doing challenges of their own.
