Bob Carpenter, 68, is truly inspirational, particularly to older people. After signing-up for a free 1-day gym pass, at a council tenants' event last year, he's already inspiring others. He's: ?his gym's best performer in his age group and second best for weights and cardio across all ages ?running regularly with a running club ?even persuaded his local policeman to cycle to work! He now plans to: ?complete a fitness qualification so he can support other older gym users ?run 'armchair aerobics' in sheltered housing ?form a rock-scrambling group Bob is a valued member of his local community. He: ?volunteers as a bingo caller and keyboard player ?supports his 90-year old neighbour ?participates in tenants' groups to improve council housing services. Giving Bob his moment to shine will support his passion to spread the message that "sport and fitness are not just for young people!" I have been unable to form a rock climbing group at the moment, but I have not given up the idea.
