Many years ago, following the retirement of their long serving clerk, the Parish Council Chairman asked Bob if he would consider acting as a temporary clerk for a few weeks, whilst they found a new permanent clerk. This he agreed to, out of interest, in order to help the village. Bob was very enthusiastic, and has been in the role for 20 years! During that time, he was involved in raising loans for the purchase, and subsequent complete refurbishment, of the village play area. During his twentieth year, at a local council liaison meeting, he was nominated for an invitation to a Buckingham Palace Garden Party! The Parish Council presented an engraved tankard in recognition of the years of service that he has given.
