Rik's nomination story

Rik is a lower leg amputee and has been since very young. Affectionayely known as 'pegleg' throughout the village of St Agnes, he is an accomplished surfer and mountineer, who makes little of his disability and spends lots of time and effort inspiring others. When I was told I was to have a similar amputation last year, Rik offered guidance and encouragement to simply get through it. His enthusiasm and character is well appreciated amoungst amputees in Cornwall and Devon. Having climbed Kilamanjaro 2 years ago, he is planning to conquer Everest soon... a feat beyond so many of us. And I will be there to cheer him on.
