Richard's nomination story

I first met Richard and his wife Lynette in a local drama group where they were both very active. Richard is still involved in drama and has a large following of fans locally where he still takes part in plays and pantomimes on a regular basis. He is very well known in and around the village where he lives due to his extraordinary willingness and ability to help anyone with anything he is capable of doing at anytime of day or night..He loves his motor bike and enjoys running on a regular basis.

In addition to running his own computer business, the very active 66 year old Sgt Richard Warren has been an officer in the police force on a voluntary basis for 44 years and hopes to continue for another 6 years to complete his 50 years service. He originally applied to join the police in 1960 but the rules prevented his doing so as he wore spectacles, which were not allowed. He signed on as a volunteer in 1967 and has been an active member ever since. To date, he has attended more that 150 of the military funeral repatriations in the town of Wootton Bassett where the bodies of british Armed Forces men and women killed in the line of duty are first returned. His wife now suffers from MS and they are both active members of the MS Society.
