Richard Pearson

He spends his time coaching and inspiring young athelites and sharing his knowledge in the hope they will love the sport as much a him.I am chairman of Southampton Athletic Club and a competing athlete. My club has a youth development programme to promote athletics to children of all ages and we have recently obtained grants to provide inspirational coaches to enable us to increase the numbers we can safely coach. I have had a life long passion for athletics and I believe it is part of my role to inspire others to enjoy what I consider the best sport in the world. In my city of Southampton Athletics generally speaking is not given a high priority in schools so I feel it is up to the Athletic Clubs to get involved with the schools and use the undoubted talent that we have.My dream and goal is to see a Southampton member in our red and white vest compete in an Olympic final
