Richard's nomination story

I am nominating Richard March as he has been one of the people to motivate me (and others) to get fit - no mean feat. He is inspiring and very 'can do' about others' sporting abilities or potential (and I, for one, am grateful). His character means he dedicates 100% to whatever he is focused on, whether his work, karaoke or sport. Rich always strives to be, and often is, the best at his chosen activity, but has humility and generosity too. He is a great example to all around him and I know he'd love to be a torchbearer. Furthermore, Rich has raised money for charity through sport (and encouraged others to do the same), here are some examples: In April 2005 he ran the London Marathon for BEN and raised over £1,100 with gift aid; Alan Corbishly, Rich and his brother did the 'Three Peaks Challenge' in 2008 and raised over £3,000 with gift aid for Climb, a charity which acts as a resource for people effected by Metabolic Diseases (http://www.climb.org.uk/); Rich ran the Paris Marathon in April 2011 and raised over £1,000 with gift aid for Diabetes UK, as his Aunty has suffered from Diabetes all her life and has been in a wheel chair for the past 4 years. Rich is also running the New York Marathon in November 2011 and aims to raise money for MS as his other Aunty suffers from MS, and Rich is running the London Marathon in April 2012 but hasn't picked his charity yet. I am so pleased to have an opportunity to thank Rich for helping me get into running.
