Richard's nomination story

Thoughtfulness and generosity define him. Aged 17 he ran "Wainwright's Coast to Coast" raising £1500 for Cancer Research at home and Rama Secondary School, Rulenge, Tanzania. As a volunteer in Tanzania, he helped with teaching & games for 5 months. In 1999 he completed the 3 Peaks challenge helping to raise funds as a team Project Leader he went to Malawi, rebuilt school classrooms, lavatories and reinstated the local community water pump. In 2004, he resigned his Training Management position to assist with family needs aged 36. Then 3 weeks after his third child was born, he was struck down with Leukaemia. After months in hospital slowly recovering, he took on the coaching of a school football team. Five years on he took a tutoring post at LCWC & now coaches both a village under 9 football team as well as the local Primary School of which he is a Governor . He is an inspiration to all
