Richie Denyer

Richard suffered a stroke riding a motorbike, sustained severe multiple injuries, left wheelchair bound unable to communicate and suffered extreme depression. With sheer determination he decided his disability was not going to win. He had to relearn all basic skills, walking, talking and communication skills. He then took up sailing. Within five years he has achieved RYA Cruising Instructor level. I have the privilege of knowing Richard, he is unique, a fantastic sailor and a person that inspires others. He volunteers his time to the stroke association and assists in pain management courses to those suffering similar disabilities. Although he is in constant pain, he never complains. I have suffered depression and low self esteem. Along with other sufferers, it raises its ugly head from time to time. Richard has this amazing ability to encourage and inspire people to get through these difficult times with care, love and laughter. With his support I also have achieved RYA Cruising Instructor something I never dreamed possible.
