Richard has been a leading member in local and national charitable organisations for many years He headed the Volunteer programme for Macmillan Cancer Support for 10 years and is said to be the most successful the charity has ever had. Since his retirement from Macmillan he was appointed chairman of the charity Home Start which is the UK's leading family support charity. On the side of all the charitable work, Richard also coordinates volunteers for the North Yorkshire police, a role which he has developed over the past 5 years. He also assists the Eden Project with their volunteer programme. Richard donates so much time to those who are less fortunate than himself He is highly respected and liked member of the community known to so many in the area and elsewhere in the UK. We believe he would be a great advocate and torch bearer for the UK.
