Reuben's nomination story

Reuben really loves all sports. Every day after school is taken up by one sport or another and he wants to compete in all of them. This includes tennis, cricket, badminton, trampolining, golf and cross country running. All of which is able to do locally within the village where we live. He has also has not given up when things have not gone well or when others around him give a little bit of stick for what he does. He has for a long time been the only junior boy in the Kemnay gymnastics team. He keep on going for two years with all the girls, while some of his other class mates laughed at him. Kemnay junior gymnastics team now boast three boys, and I would like to think that some of this is down to Reuben showing the way and not giving in to peer pressure. He has helped Kemnay Primary School to secondary place in Scotland's Primary School's Cricket competition last year (joint captain), a school of less that 170 pupils, and has also just played his first cricket match for Kemnay Adult team He was out first ball, stumped, and it was not an happy boy that came home from that match. When I asked him if he was going to cricket practice in the following week, he said 'Yes, and I'm going to stay longer and work harder because I've never going to be out like that again'. Grit, determination and a will to win for himself and the team and that's why he should have the chance to carry the Olympic Torch
