I do a PhD for Cancer Research but out of hours I take my science to the community. Engaging and inspiring as many people as possible.I want to make a significance with my research into how cells become faulty and turn cancerous and inspire others whilst doing so. I admire Brian Cox for his ability to talk to anyone and leave them with an understanding of something amazing. Everytime I talk to people in the community as a Cancer Research UK funded scientist I practice this. I take simple experiments such as how to extract DNA from a strawberry out the lab to demonstrate to as many people as possible. Then it's back to the lab where I take DNA from cancer cells and compare it to normal cells to spot the differences. Talking to people and showing them the WOW factor of science never fails to fuel my drive to make a difference in science to discover to understand.
