Rebecca's nomination story

Rebecca is a truly inspirational gymnast. From a young age she had to travel every day after school from Hull to Leeds, a round trip of over 140 miles taking up to 3 hours, in order to pursue her sport and fulfil her potential. This equates to travelling almost twice around the world every year just to train. This was necessary due to there being no adequate facilities locally. During this time she also had to cope with school work, successfully completing all her exams and gaining a place at university. She also found time to be a volunteer coach on Sundays, her only free day, at the local gymnastics club where she first trained at the age of 5 and found her love of gymnastics. She still coaches there and is an inspiration to the young gymnasts. She now also coaches part time at City of Leeds Gym Club where she has trained from the age of 8. Her hard work, dedication and determination has brought her success at both national and international level. She is the current BUCS champion, has competed for and won medals as part of the England gymnastics team and is on track to compete for Great Britain at the World Student Games this year. She is a real inspiration to other young sports people and deserves an opportunity to carry the torch.I am no longer on track to compete for great Britain I have now fulfilled that too as I have just returned from competing for great Britain in china at the world student games, came 14against all Countires from around the world. A great experience!
