Rebecca Dyer

I would like to nominate my grand-daughter Rebecca Louise Dyer age 17 to carry the Olympic Flame in the Cardiff area. Rebecca is a very hard working and committed young adult. She has obtained 11 A*/A grades at GCSE level whilst giving time to help those less fortunate than herself. Since January 2010 she has helped coach members of the Caerphilly Dragons Disabled Swimming Club, working with adults and children with physical or learning difficulties. She has help a blind man master frontcrawl and a 6 year old with cerebral palsy gain confidence to swim in the 'big pool'. Rebecca also undertook voluntary work in a Charity Shop for approximately 8 months only stopping to concentrate on her AS exams. Rebecca belongs to Caerphilly County Swim Squad and the Welsh Wanders water polo team. From her hard work and determination she has recently represented the Welsh Region Junior Ladies in water polo competitions. Her motto in live is 'reach for the moon, if you fall short you will land among the stars'. To my mind all this entitles her to be considered. I know she would be thrilled if she was successful.
