Rachel's nomination story

Rachel set up For Sanity's Sake in October 2010. This Social Enterprise helps those with a bump, baby or pre-schooler who may feel isolated or depressed. The website provides a calendar of events and activities in the local area. It's now looking to be rolled out nationally. In the first 6 months alone over 2,000 new parents joined the site purely through positive word of mouth. She has voluntarily dedicated around 5 hours a day, every day to make sure the site achieves it's aims. For Sanity's Sake works together with local businesses, the NCT, NetMums, the Council, the NHS, Childcare Centres and Welcare to make sure Single Mums, Dads, Stay-at-Home Mums, Working Mums, Grandparents and those on a low income can find a wide range of things to do with their children locally and meet new friends. She now has a team of 25 dedicated volunteers working on the site and is an inspiration in her dedication, business skills, vision and enthusiasm. For Sanity's Sake has won a level 1 award with Unlimited and Rachel is also in the running to be one of the 25 Big Venture Winners. Chris Rayner, Specialist Business Adviser, Business Link said 'It is rare that I see a new enterprise with a sustainable and perpetuating finance stream, an effective business outlook and a genuine opportunity to benefit the community that they serve'. Rachel is dedicated to sport as a positive way of improving one's moral and outlook and I know she's love to carry the torch for all new parents.
