Philippa's nomination story

Philippa (Pip) has been training as an endurance runner for the last 4 years with the help of a fantastic coach. She went to the local stadium, wrapped up as a six month old watching her older sisters train. At 3 years old Pip got her first medal after completing her first Junior great North run and proudly adds further finishing medals to it each year. Pip joined the running club at the age of 7 years and has been a determind athlete since day 1 ! Always getting the most out of each weekly session by trying to get that bit faster, then chatting on the way home about the fun she had, desperate for Dad to see! As meetings & competitions became available, Pip ran, determind to push herself at each. She finishes each race and runs straight back to encourage her team mates on to the end. Success has brought joy to her & she also acted on advice when things did not go to plan. Pip was in excellent running form during the xcountry season in 2010 when a virus struck her leaving her poorly on & off for the last 18 months. Over this time Pip did everything possible to carry on training and get well. She trains in blizzards and heat and saw rewards for this by getting chosen for county teams and the London Mini Marathon this year. She challenges and improves her PB's constantly. Pip has been selected for the Future champions local Olympic legacy programe. School Sports captain inspiring others, County 1500girls champion, committed and enthusiastic. Always ready to smile and shine !
