Pippa's nomination story

Pippa Hatch (17) lives with an extremely rare cancer which only affects a handful of teenagers. She has cancer of the soft tissue of her stomach, undergoing repeated operations to remove tumours, including having two-thirds of her stomach removed. Pippa's cancer doesn't respond to traditional treatments and she is constantly faced with doctors 'trying out' treatments to see whether they work. Despite living with this uncertainty, Pippa is inspirational in her attitude to life. Pippa is Sarcoma UK's most successful fundraiser, having raised £20k+ for the charity. In 2010, she organised a local triathlon event, taking part, leading and motivating a team of family, friends and local community members. Simultaneous runs, swims and challenges also took place in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Pippa is filled with joy and enthusiasm for life, and is entirely motivated by the desire to improve life for others in the same situation as her.
