Phil, a former competitive swimmer is chairman of Llandarcy ASC. In November 2009 the club lost it's home as the venue was taken over by a private company and the head coach left. Phil and the commitee fought hard and succeeded in negotiating pool space at various other venues and found new coaching staff. Only one month later the club's main pool was destroyed in a fire. Once again Phil and the commitee struggled to find pool space in other venues and kept the club going. During this time many people thought the club could not survive and sadly about half of the swimmers left for other clubs. Now, the club is growing again, has started learn to swim classes and is becomming stronger than ever. Under his leadership it supports and nurtures young swimmers, cares about all it's members and treats them all as individuals. The club promotes fun in and out of the pool with may child orientated family social events. I believe that without Phil's leadership the club would have not got through this difficult period. I feel that his determination to keep the club going is an inspiration and a fantastic reward for his efforts would be for him to carry the torch.
