Philip's nomination story

I would like to nominate my very good friend, Philip Kelley to be a Torchbearer. He and his lovely wife Kerry have two beautiful children, Mary (8) and Jack (5). Mary has cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening inherited disease which clogs vital organs with thick sticky mucus. The condition is not curable at the moment (but there has been some very hopeful research in recent months). Instead of letting this defeat them Philip and Kerry have, with the help of family and friends, raised over £150,000 for CF. Philip is an amazing motivator and his hard work, sense of humour and outrage at this horrendous condition have been a driving force behind this fundraising. He and Kerry have run marathons, cycled, organised auctions, balls and raffles plus many other events. They have also managed to fill their children's lives with love, fun, sport, music and laughter. I cannot think of a better person to carry the Olympic Flame, not only has he 'gone the extra mile' with his own family, he is always willing to put himself out for others - too good to be true? Well, he thinks he can sing and has slightly dodgy taste in clothes and music but hey - nobody's perfect!
