Philip's nomination story

My dad has been a member of Exmouth ABC for over 40 years and been a coach for 20 years in 2 10 year spells. 1st starting in 1982 when I was born and then again starting from 2001 til present. He trains the boxers three nights a week. But this is after getting up for work at 3.30am every morning and doing a full day as a lorry driver often only getting home in time to get changed and head straight down the gym for training from 6.30pm until 8.30-9pm. He then comes home has his tea and then off to bed. On top of this he will then take the boxers to various shows around the south of England so that they are able to put there training into practice, often using up his holiday entitlement to do this. Philip is also the main matchmaker for the club who put on 2 shows a year which takes up a considerable amount of time and stress trying to get everything sorted. He has during all this time been an amazing dad who has done everything he can to give my sister and I the best support and encouragement. For example in 2006 we ran the London marathon together after i thought it would be a good idea and he was not all that keen!! But even still he entered got in and we then spent the winter months together training which he did because I wanted him too, he could easily have said that's great i will come and watch rather than actually running. He is a member of Exmouth Harriers and always helps out at races from marshalling the course to the finish line and helping to oraganise races
