I have known Pete Prescott for 5 years, during this time he has proved to be one of the most selfless, compassionate and modest people I have ever met. Pete only knows one motto 'put everyone else first!' The evidence of which is witnessed by hundreds every year when Pete gives up all of his time to organise Hastings's Beatles day. A charity event that he started 12 years ago in aid of McMillan. It involves the coordination of 200 musicians and in the region of 60 bands all giving their time for free to perform a 15 minute slot each of Beatles songs . He has created an event that brings Hastings's music culture together with the wider community, working in partnership to achieve a common goal. Despite the fact I dislike the Beatles intently, somehow he manages to inspire us ALL to come back year after year and perform for him. He has managed to raise over £100000 for charity but has achieved so much more by bringing people together and showing them that absolutely anything is attainable if you pull together and put your heart and soul into it. This is my opportunity to take a page out of Pete's book and put someone first, by nominating him for one of the greatest honours a person could have.
