Carrying the Flame on
Pete's nomination story

After wife Amanda diagnosed with breast cancer, decided to raise money for Christie Cancer hospital by running in Great Manchester 10k. Raised £8600 with help from family, friends and colleagues, which helped the hospital open a new wing.

Amanda finishing her treatment at the hospital and remaining positive. Peter grew up in Didsbury and always been aware of the work performed by Christie Cancer hospital and to experience it firsthand, the kindness and employee professionalism, blew him away.

In 2009, ran 10k in 59.5mins. For 2010 sponsorship, set target of under 55min and completed in 54.43min. Driven by support and to show Amanda that anything was possible, completed 2011 run in 53.43min.

Carrying the torch would be way of thanking everybody who donated and supported Amanda and will emphasise the importance of the Christie Cancer hospital and their work and what it means to the people in the North West.
