Peter is one of the longest standing members of Basingstoke and Deane Canoe Club and has coached at the club for over 20 years. Peter has also been involved in developing the club's child protection policy and was key in guiding the club to achieve Canoe England's Top Club and Clubmark.
His role now focuses on club development within the club. Peter is the main vision and driving force behind the development of a new club house. When built, this will be fully accessible and available to schools, colleges and other local groups. As a coach, Peter is dedicated to developing both himself and others while acting as a mentor for other coaches in the club. Peter also works with the Scout Association at local and county level.
During his time at the club, Peter has inspired people to either take up, or continue, kayaking and coaching. He is currently working with a group of young people with multiple disabilities. They are discovering a new form of independence and taking part in an activity they would not have believed possible.
In 2008, Peter has awarded the Canoe England Outstanding Contribution to Canoeing. Peter would consider is a great honour to carry the Olympic Torch. CR
