Peter's nomination story

How does someone who was 15 stone, and smoked 40 a day, fit the Olympic ideal? Well, this podgy, gasping 45 year old, having only learnt to swim at 50, became this year's European and World Triathlon Champion at the age of 77! He has been on the podium of National, European and World Championships every year from the age of 50 to 75. He has formed a triathlon club, organised events, coached at all levels. He's been Britain's triathlon representative at European and World conferences, and Team Manager for the National Squad. This is a truly inspirational person. This modest gentleman, who always avoids the limelight, gives hope to the rest of us, especially newcomers to triathlon and to older sportspeople. He would be very moved to receive this honour.
